Our Company
Since 1983, Gruppo Padovana has provided bookbinding services.
Our strength has always been to provide customers with complete service, suggesting innovative, personalized solutions and always guaranteeing the highest quality with respect to the available economic means.
Our adventure began long ago as Legatoria Padovana, a family company that primarily provided folding and stapling services for local printers.
In 1992, with the creation of a new production technique, LEIT — Legatoria Industriale Italiana Tecnica — was created (a company specialized in spiral binding and indexing). In 1995, with the participation of CARVEL, its potential expanded with a broader range of services, approaching the book sector.
In 1999, the three companies, still separate although working together, merged under a single name: Gruppo Padovana Srl, thus becoming a point of reference among bookbinders in the Triveneto region.
In 2000, specifically to offer a complete service, Tecnopack also entered the group, dealing with all services related to mailing, enveloping, and cellophane wrapping.
In 2002, with a commitment to a project also tied to the future vision of partners in Gruppo Padovana, the new site in Campodarsego was inaugurated. This space of more than 12,000 m² houses cutting- edge machinery to cover a vast range of bookbinding techniques.
In the following years, with investments in innovations in the field, Gruppo Padovana received various awards, strengthening its position within the graphics sector.
Another important step was taken in late 2005/early 2006.
Its perfect binding lines were doubled to satisfy an increasing number of customers requesting high-quality booklets. The new system, innovative for its time, included all parts necessary for the large-run in-line production of covers with flaps in a single step.
Finally, the purchase of the casing line and machines to produce the related covers allowed us to expand into more prestigious hardcover binding. At this point, therefore, Gruppo Padovana was able to round out its production techniques with hardcover volumes in response to market demands.
In 2008, Gruppo Padovana also included another twist stitch line with 2 sewing machines and collection at 24 stations. The same year, a system, number one in the world, was installed. This cutting line is completely automatic in both movement and processing.
In 2011, to meet market needs, we opened a foreign commercial office primarily dedicated to France, where we act as contractors. We also involve coworkers in these new strategies, even with targeted language training courses.
For us, regulatory compliance has always been a priority. In fact, in 2013, the company obtained the FSC environmental certification, assuring end customers that the raw material supply chain for all production techniques involves certified, monitored sources.
Over time, Gruppo Padovana has made additional investments in information technology, and in 1991 it adopted basic computer-based tools to process management data. After various experiences with commercial software, a new management program was created and designed in 2015 by an internal computer scientist specifically for Gruppo Padovana, which has no comparison in other companies, thereby increasing efficiency and accelerating data acquisition for an increasingly complete response for our customers.
Over time we have added other machinery. Since 2017 we have expanded our folding formats, reaching sizes of 140 cm x 160 cm.
The following year, we exhibited our DaisyBind product at the London Stationery Show, one of the most important fairs in the sector, also earning a nomination as ‘2018 most innovative product’.
Despite the difficulties of the pandemic, Gruppo Padovana has always known how to look ahead. Our new vision has led us to encourage and empower all our coworkers, with investments in specific professional development courses.
As for technology, another twist stitch line for the book department was added in early 2022. This cutting-edge machine becomes a milestone for the new path of Gruppo Padovana in the coming years.
